The Andalusian Parliament (Hospital de las Cinco Llagas) is illuminated with lanterns of Hijos de Estévez [Sons of Estévez]

Workshop working in the lanterns for the Andalusian Parliament.

The company of Granada Artesanía Hijos de Estévez [Craftworks Sons of Estévez] conducted in 1982 the integral lighting, with totally handmade pieces, of the Seat of the Andalusian Parliament, the named Hospital de las Cinco Llagas [Hospital of the Five Sores]. The project required the design, construction and placement of lanterns, wall lights and lamps in this historic Renaissance building of Seville.

To qualify for the award of the project, it was essential to adapt the elaboration to very specific technical elements. The glass used for these luminaries should have some special characteristics, so that if it breaks, its pieces do not fall to the ground, which avoids risks of all kinds. Each lantern has, on average, 25 Kilos of weight in glass only, all of them translucent white. And the metallic parts are entirely brass with electrolyte plating.
